From the 18.5 mile Lakefront bike paths to the free fitness classes in Lincoln and Millennium Parks, Chicago offers endless opportunities to stay active. Whether you run the city marathon every year or you prefer power walking/window shopping along Mag Mile, you've probably dealt with a few aches, pains, or injuries at some point. The experts at One Medical have all the knowledge and experience to help you stay active, overcome athletic obstacles, and achieve your fitness goals.

Our Chicago team is made up of skilled primary care providers who can handle most run-of-the-mill musculoskeletal concerns, as well as board-certified Sports Medicine doctor, Sashil Kapur, MD. Sashil completed a sports medicine fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and currently sees patients at our Loop - W Madison office. While any member of our staff can evaluate and address most basic musculoskeletal concerns, Sashil can also provide ultrasounds and ultrasound guided injections when appropriate, as well as offer additional care for specific issues.

What kinds of conditions do you treat?

All of the providers at One Medical can handle an array of sports medicine issues and musculoskeletal conditions. If you're experiencing issues like knee pain, shoulder pain, back pain, or hip pain, a primary care provider can absolutely be your best starting point to care. They can evaluate your concerns and help guide you if you do need additional care.

In Chicago, our staff also features licensed Sports Medicine doctors who have received additional training in a broad range of issues ranging from acute injuries like sprains and stress fractures to traumatic brain injuries and concussions.

Our select licensed Sports Medicine doctors are specially trained to treat:

  • Acute injuries such as ankle sprains, joint injuries, dislocations & non-surgical fractures
  • Overuse injuries including stress fractures, tendonitis & osteoarthritis
  • Traumatic brain injuries or concussions

They can also provide:

  • Nutrition counseling, exercise prescriptions & promotion for those who want to be more active
  • "Return to play" decisions for injured or ill athletes
  • Pre-participation physical examinations
  • Referrals to physical therapists
  • Fitness counseling
  • Active lifestyle counseling

Are you sports medicine doctors?

While our team does include board-certified Sports Medicine doctors, all of our primary care providers are well equipped to diagnose and treat a variety of sports medicine-related injuries and conditions. While many patients believe they need to see an orthopedist to address their musculoskeletal concerns, the vast majority of all sports-related injuries do not require the surgical care. Primary care physicians can effectively handle most of your sports medicine concerns and seamlessly integrate your diagnosis and care into the bigger picture of your overall health.
